The peppermint plant is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and was first described by Carl von Linné in 1753. A high menthol content – as found in doTERRA peppermint essential oil – is characteristic of high quality peppermint. The essential oil is widely used in oral hygiene products such as toothpaste and chewing gum. Peppermint continues to be one of doTERRA’s top selling essential oils.

  • Add a drop of peppermint and lemon to water for a healthy, refreshing mouthwash.
  • Put one to two drops in an empty vegetarian capsule.
  • Add a drop to your favorite smoothie recipe for a refreshing touch.
