What are essential oils?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. They can smell both pleasant and intense. Extraction procedure
Essential oils of therapeutic quality are usually obtained from the plant material using steam distillation with the lowest possible heat exposure under pressure. The essential oils pass into the steam. As the steam mixture cools, the oil is separated from the water. The oil can thus be extracted in its pure form.
To ensure the highest possible quality and the correct chemical composition of the oil, temperature and pressure must be strictly monitored. If the heat and pressure are too low, the valuable oil is not released. Too much of it can destroy the delicate chemical structure and change the effect of the oil.
